To ensure strong governance and professional oversight, the Trust operates with clear structures and an independent separation of responsibilities.
Independent Oversight
Sentinel International Trust provides independent administration of the Trust and prepares the Trust’s Annual Financial Statements, ensuring professional financial oversight and accountability.
Board of Trustees
The Trust is governed by a board comprising both independent representation and members of the SACS Old Boys community.
The current board includes:

- Andrew Finlayson (’91)
- Stuart Makin (’89)
Fair and Independent Selection Process
The selection of scholarship recipients is managed entirely by the school’s senior leadership and bursary structures.
To ensure fairness and transparency, neither the trustees nor the SACS Old Boys Union are involved in the selection of scholarship beneficiaries.
This separation helps ensure that all scholarship decisions remain independent, objective, and focused solely on identifying deserving young men with the potential to thrive at SACS.

- Tax Deductions: All donations are tax-deductible for individuals and companies under Section 18A.
- B-BBEE Points: The trust is a Level 1 B-BBEE organisation. Companies can earn B-BBEE points by directing their Socio-Economic Development (SED) or Skills Development spend toward these bursaries.
