Bheka Mabika (’23)
Bheka describes his time at SACS as an “incredible chance” to discover his true potential. He speaks of the care, encouragement, and support he received throughout his journey, and the way in which the SACS community helped shape both his confidence and future aspirations.
For Bheka, being part of SACS represented more than access to education — it was about belonging to a community committed to helping young men build a future everyone can be proud of.
Fabrice Nahima ('18)
Fabrice arrived in South Africa as a refugee at the age of eight. Through the support of the bursary programme, mentorship, and the broader SACS community, he flourished both academically and personally during his time at the school.
Today, Fabrice has come full circle and now serves as part of the Ithuba Trust, mentoring current students and helping prepare them for life beyond school. His journey reflects the long-term impact that opportunity, support, and community can have on a young person’s life.
As Kennedy Odede said, ‘Talent is universal, opportunity is not.’ The Ithuba Trust exists to help close that gap.
Five years on, we are proud of what has been achieved. The Trust now supports approximately 40 young men, while expanding the care and support around them beyond school fees alone. The introduction of Fabrice Nahimana as a mentor has added an important layer of guidance and encouragement for our learners.
We remain deeply grateful to the wider SACS community for its continued support, and we look forward to building an even stronger and more sustainable future for the SACS Ithuba Trust.
